How many times have you been working through a multiple choice test and end up bubbling in three of the same letter in a row?

What do you do in this situation if you now think the next answer should ALSO be B? Many students will change their answer to this fourth question because “three Bs in a row is bad enough, so there’s no way that there could be four Bs in a row!” While this is likely the case (though it’s not impossible for four of the same letters in a row to be correct), switching your answer to this fourth question on the basis of that reasoning alone is a massive mistake.
